Grange Hall Music
I think the best music is performed in halls late at night. Grange Halls
and old barns are home to the acoustics of 'music in the moment'. I love
the lonely sound of a piano or guitar tumbling across a summer praire
from a far off dance. These structures do not only seep out soothing sounds but are also the birthplace of stories and lifelong memories. I hear these stories outside and inside of these halls. Teenagers in love, adults distraught, fist-fights while the music seeps out through the wooden walls. Memories get built in these moments, I'm sure of it. I'm certain that at this very moment there are men and women of all ages spread all around the planet with eyes closed, rocking gently or drifting off into their slumber as they remember that moment, some moment, their moment. "The first time I saw him". "I wonder what happened to them?" "I remember her shoes. Why the shoes?" "Ma and Pa dancing". "Climbing trees". Sleep. I don't claim to be a musician. I'm not. Call it music to words or poetry or whatever you want. For me it is the echoes of other's lives...echoing still..like guitar chords. Check out the Lost Souls. |
